WHAT’s Going on @ ThE Festival
Hosted at an amazing location on Mersea Island, the most easterly inhabited and publicly accessible island in the United Kingdom. Just 10 miles from Colchester, the festival site is situated on one of the island’s farms and backdrops beautiful estuary views, playing host to some of the best views and sunsets that the southeast has to offer.
Our creative team have been busy designing the site aesthetic, transforming it into a vibrant exotic themed festival space that only builds on its natural beauty, whilst intertwining spaces and areas to dance, eat, drink, and lose yourself a little!
Immerse yourself across our 3 areas of eclectic music right across the dance spectrum. Whatever your groove, we think we have it covered. From straight-up House, disco, soul, funk and drum & bass. Headline acts include Toolroom Records head honcho Mark Knight, the king of mobile social media disco SUAT, Manchester’s Beatport chart breakers Lewraz, Fump favourites Daisybelle & James O’Connell, not to mention our very own Radio & A&R queen Carly Foxx and local hero Charlie Marshall.
An actual long wheelbase Land-Rover converted into our atmospheric club environment, remember clubs? – This is your dance tent, expect it to get dark and dirty as the day progresses.
Take a rest in our chill out area – massage tent, free yoga and meditation classes all available on site.
Secret Island Stage
Draped in flowers and plants and backdropped with incredible views of the site and beyond, framing some of the best sunsets on the Island, is where our headline acts will play through our Funktion One Sound system.
EMU creative, the team behind events at Chelmsford Pride and other boutique parties and festivals, will be bringing their LGBT themed space to Secret Island Festival in all its beauty. Think brightly coloured oil drums, rum bar, Caribbean themed DJ booth spinning the best in funk, soul and reggae, and lots of bunting!!
Food & Drink
3 bars across the site will be serving you a host of cold beers, wines and cocktails, plus delicious local food from The Junkyard Smoke Bloke, Pizza and Fish chips, complete with the summer essential, an ice cream van.
The site is 50 mins by train to Colchester from London then a 20-minute cab journey, it is completely doable in a day! Alternatively make a weekend of it stay at one of the many hotels, or holiday parks located in proximity. For our locals or tourists, await a free shuttle bus operating to and from the site all day to West Mersea.
Being almost completely outside and having lots of space, it will be possible to social distance if you so wish. We will of course be following all government guidelines and will be regularly cleaning communal spaces and toilets throughout the day. We will be operating a contactless payment system throughout the site and would encourage festival-goers to use this facility over cash.
